Ed MacBean leads market development for Precision Health & Screening within Illumina’s New and Emerging Opportunities Division. In this capacity, Ed has global responsibility for leading a holistic, global picture and vision for genomics in the healthy population in a new paradigm of prevention and early detection. In this capacity, he works with direct-to-consumer (DTC) companies, forward-leaning health systems, and innovative insurers and employee wellness programs to help them understand and prepare for the impact of the genomic revolution. Prior to leading Illumina’s efforts in Precision Health & Screening, Ed led Illumina’s market development activities around national-scale population sequencing initiatives including the Genomics England 100,000 Genome Project, AllOfUS (United States Precision Medicine Initiative), and ~25 similar initiatives around the globe. Before joining Illumina, Ed was a founding team member and led product development and product marketing for Pathway Genomics, a pioneering DTC genomics laboratory.
